Unearth old-world charm paired with modern sophistication, ease & elegance at our wine bar & lounge. The Wine Grotto is an exciting addition nestled within the celebrated architecture & grounds of Saint John’s Resort—a beacon of luxury & compassion in the heart of Plymouth, Michigan.
Daring to stand out, The Wine Grotto refuses to be an ordinary "hotel bar." Fortifying the bond between luxury & leisure, The Wine Grotto invites visitors to experience the vision of our award-winning sommelier & culinary teams—a vision where ordinary doesn’t exist.
In 2023, Saint John’s Resort received The Award of Excellence—an esteemed Wine Spectator Award that recognizes restaurants with an exceptional wine list showcasing a well-chosen assortment of quality producers matched by an equally exceptional, thematic & authentic menu. Originally built in 1948, the space The Wine Grotto now occupies provided the perfect setting for our award-winning sommeliers to best showcase & share their vision in a place like no other.

In a world of endless possibilities, our guests will savor the extraordinary. Our unrestricted “have a taste” philosophy encourages wine enthusiasts & curious diners the rare opportunity to enjoy premium wines they might not otherwise try. Thanks to the Coravin preservation system, guests can order luxurious wines by the glass, or half glass, due to the extraordinary art, engineering & science behind the system which extracts wine without removing the cork to ensure the wine is preserved for optimal enjoyment.
The Wine Grotto extends an open invitation to globetrotters, locals & resort guests alike—urging visitors to travel & taste the world, one exquisite glass after another. From sumptuous wine tastings, private dinner parties, captivating date nights & nightcaps to end the day—the moments you spend within our walls will mature into your very own cherished memories.
